Angelstone Tournaments hosted the 2012 Young Horse Championships in Rockwood, Ontario at the Angelstone International this past week.
The Championships consisted of four gruelling rounds of jumping over five days. If there were ties after round 4 there was a jump off.
The 7/8 year old championship went to Roberto Teran and Qairdam de Belheme. Roberto and Qairdam de Belheme were the only horse and rider combination to jump four clear rounds over courses designed by the 2008 Olympic course designer Steve Stephens. Reserve champion went to Emilie Parent and Rufus de Violaines. Emily and Rufus de Violaines also finished as the leading 7 year old.
The 6 year old division had Beth Underhill taking the top honors riding Kinsdale for owner Mackenzie Clark. Beth and Kinsale were again the only horse and rider combination to jump four faultless rounds. The reserve championship went to David Arcand and Caligori.
The 5 year olds proved to be at the top of their game as five horse and rider combinations jumped four clear rounds and advanced to the jump off. In the jump off, Taylor Mulligan and Social Network edged Darrin Dlin and Susan Grange’s Tennyson to claim the championship.
The 4 year old division had a two way jump off that had Hugh Graham and Diamond Mine take the Championship. The reserve champion was Stephanie Dubois and EWSZ’S Le Vin Rouge.
2012 has been a great year for the young horse series. This year we had over 110 horses compete in the series and over 70 horses at the final. Angelstone would like to thank the sponsors Lothlorien, Dutch Masters, King Ridge, Cavalor and Dominion Regalia for their tremendous support in 2012.
